Steve Farrar is a 35-year veteran of accounting and financial planning services and is one of the more trained and diversified professionals in his trade. As a Certified Public Accountant, Steve has an extensive background serving as a partner at a mid-sized accounting firm and holds a masters degree in taxation from Bentley College. His strong commitment to building lasting relationships serve as a valuable asset to his clients and helped Steve earn the distinction of being named a Five Star Wealth Management Professional by Boston Magazine in 2011, 2013, 2017, 2018 and again in 2023 & 2024. Steve is also a sought after Certified Financial Planner, a Personal Financial Specialist, and a member of the Financial Planning Association who offers in-depth financial planning foresight and counsel. Steve is a native of Marblehead, Massachusetts and is also a Notary Public.
Anthony Gates is Certified Public Accountant, Certified Financial Planner®, Personal Financial Specialist and a Registered Investment Advisor. Anthony has 25 years of experience in the accounting and tax profession servicing small to mid-sized clients in a wide range of industries. He is regarded as the firm’s pre-eminent tax specialist providing tax consultation to Individuals, Corporations, Partnerships, Trusts and Estates. He is committed to providing close and lasting relationships with his clients that rely on his insights. Anthony’s exemplary background is further enhanced by his more than 14 years of experience in the financial services industry specializing in investment management and financial planning. Anthony is a graduate of Merrimack College, a native of Danvers and resides in Beverly, Massachusetts.
Derek Green is a Certified Public Accountant as well as an extensively-trained Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) with over 20 years of experience and leads the firm's expertise in assessing the values of small, medium and family businesses. Green’s unique acumen gives the firm added depth in individual and business taxation as well as providing in depth analysis for estate and gift planning and litigation support for business valuations, marital dissolution and partnership matters. He is also a master of popular accounting software packages and provides in-depth QuickBooks consulting and implementation strategies for all types of businesses from boutique consultancies, food service, and from manufacturing to retail. Derek is a graduate of Salem State College and a lifelong Middleton, Massachusetts resident.
KACIE ROWLAND
Tax Manager
As an Enrolled Agent and advisor with many years of experience in the taxation, accounting and finance professions, Kacie brings a strong analytical skill set to her role on the team. She is also a Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor and provides specialized consulting and support for many of the firm’s business clients. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Providence College, is a native of Lynnfield and resides in Marblehead with her husband and three daughters.

Executive Assistant
Effie lends her nearly 15 years of firm experience as an integral part of the client service team, specializing in detailed administrative support in most aspects of bookkeeping and tax preparation. Effie is also a Notary Public with a degree from Marion Court College. A native and resident of Peabody, Effie is also fluent in the Greek language. In her free time, Effie loves spending time at the beach and on the water enjoying time with family and friends.
SUE MASTERS
Client Relationship Manager
As the firm’s Client Relationship Manager, Sue Masters ensures the exemplary attention and care that are the hallmarks of Farrar Gates & Green’s reputation and experience. Sue has been with the firm since 2008 and specializes in managing customer taxation communications, filing processes and lends expertise in QuickBooks and Bookkeeping. A lifelong Marblehead resident, Sue holds a B.A. from UMass Amherst. She enjoys skiing, boating and spending time with her family and their two golden retrievers.
KATHY RANTZ
Client Operations Specialist
Kathy Rantz utilizes her degree in Communications from the University of Rhode Island to ensure that Farrar Gates & Green’s clients receive exceptional customer service and support. Since joining the firm in 2014, Kathy has taken on many new responsibilities including bookkeeping, managing the Firm’s secure portal and receiving and organizing tax return filings. A North Shore native and resident of Danvers, Kathy enjoys spending time with family and friends and is always up for a new adventure.
